I realize that moving from Florida to California, things will go wrong and will most likely get damaged. Keeping that in mind, here are some issues we had: First of all, when our driver left Florida, he gave us a date 11 days in the future that was "the soonest" he would be there, so we stopped along the way to visit family for a few days. Then, 7 days lqter we got a call from the driver saying he would be at our destination in two days and that we would be expected to be there. We told him that would be impossible as we were in Kansas at that time. We then called customer service and they at first told us we had to be at our destination in two days when the driver would be there. Then after several phone calls with customer service, they finally told us the movers would be at our destination on the day that was originally promised. It finally worked out but it was very frustrating for awhile.
There seemed to be a general level of incompetence. For example, upon delivery, several of our boxes that were marked FRAGILE were completely crushed. I don't think the crew paid attention to the markings on the boxes at all. Also, we were told several times by our driver and the moving crew that we went over our estimate and they complained numerous times to me about it. I think this is the fault of the person who did our estimate, not ours. We certainly did not hide anything and even told the estimator that we had two other classrooms of things that would be added to what he was seeing (we are both educators). Also, our screws to our bed and flat screen TV (and base) were wrapped up into little balls of tape that were almost thrown away because we didn't know what they were. NONE of our furniture was stretch-wrapped either. It was all just wrapped up in blankets. On the positive side, customer service did resolve the delivery date issue and the crew that unloaded us was very professional, courteous, and fast.
