This broker quoted 1799.86 for the move (August 2014) and gave us a 2 day window for pickup. They took my deposit of over $657.46. Because my husband and I were traveling from CA to ID move our 94-year old mother from one assisted living to another one in another state, it was going to be a delicate and complicated move. I explained this to every person I talked with at NMG. They assured me that they could "almost promise" a Monday pickup--but worst would be Tuesday. A dispatcher would call Monday morning to let me know.
We flew to Idaho on Sunday and packed up the apartment--my elderly mother-in-law was very anxious, but we assured her she would be in her new place very soon.
On Monday morning, we were ready to go and I heard nothing from dispatcher. When it got close to noon, I emailed the agent and tried to call. No answer. About noon, they called and said the move was cancelled. They could not find another carrier and probably couldn't do it for a month or more. They would do nothing to help us at all--we had to be out of the apartment that week, were paying for motels and taking off work--and we had a very confused and distressed elderly woman to try and care for.
We ended up getting a UHaul, hiring loaders and a driver, and had a very stressful move--which cost us $1000 more than it was supposed to (without even adding in extra days of motel costs). NMG refunded my deposit after I insisted--and after about 2 weeks, but they did not one thing to help make up for the situation they left us in.
Horrible experience. Don't use them.
