I used this company back in July of 2011. If I could use negative stars, I would use them.
First off, this is the WORST COMPANY in the world. DO NOT i repeat DO NOT use this company. Save yourself a serious headache. We were moving a studio apartment from NY to DC. The only positive experience I had was with Alex and his team (who packed up our place promptly). Absolutely everyone else I dealt with at the company was terrible. The scheduling was awful, they weren't able to give us any idea of when they'd be able to deliver all of our things. First they told us, Monday or Tuesday, and then 3 days before the weekend, Allen told us with "reasonable certainty" that they could guarantee a Saturday or Sunday move. We called Thursday and Friday to see when they would be able to move our stuff down. No answer. They "still weren't sure" even though they originally told us they could tell us within 24 hours of the move. Saturday rolls around, still "no clue." Sunday rolls around and they tell us that they can't deliver it until Sunday at midnight or Monday morning. When they originally told us a Saturday or Sunday move, we expected anytime during those DAYS not midnight of the last day. So we already had things scheduled. Neither of us was able to be there, and then they said the next possible day would be the following week. We wanted to make sure we got out stuff as quickly as possible, so we had to loop in a family member to be there Monday morning between the hours of 8 and 9. Amit and his team rolled in at 930. Already late. THEN, he had the audacity to park in FRONT OF THE BUILDING, but wait for it, because the 2 people who were working for him had to walk to the side door, NOT amit himself (who stood idly by the truck the entire time and didn't lift a finger), he charged $250 extra because it wasn't parked in front of the side door. Well hey buddy, if you're double parked anyway in FRONT of the building, then you can double park in front of the side entrance and not have an extra 5 feet to walk. Ok but even before he allowed his minions to unload the car, he absolutely refused to unload anything out of the car, UNTIL HE HAD CASH IN HIS HAND. He refused to take check of any kind and only allowed cash or money orders. Obviously he was doing shady business and wanted to pocket all this money. This includes the absurd $250 extra "long walk" (for an extra 5 feet) charge. So our family member had to run around to 3 different ATMs to withdraw cash. The 2 minions who worked for him were even scared of him. (he doesn't share any tip with them). What we were originally quoted of $800 turned out to be $2500 with a bunch of hidden and extra fees. I Would NEVER EVER EVER USE THIS COMPANY AGAIN NOR WOULD I WISH that ANYONE go through the same headache and the awful experience we had to experience. OH I FORGOT THE BEST PART. they dismantled several pieces of furniture: TV stand and couch and originally told us everything would be put back together. Was it? OF COURSE NOT. They left it in our apartment with pieces missing! They said they "tried and failed" BUT EVERYTHING WAS STILL WRAPPED UP THE WAY IT WAS ORIGINALLY WRAPPED SO did they even try? NO BUT THEY DID MANAGE TO LOSE THE PIECES! I had to go to the hardware store and by trial and error find the right pieces to put our TV stand back together as well as our couch legs. again, WORST COMPANY EVER. If this doesn't convince you that you shouldn't use this company, well then happy moving.
Edit: I forgot to add that they LOST 2 OF OUR BOXES with many sentimental and some expensive items (paintings, wall hangings etc.) We called to follow-up with the company and they said that "everything should have arrived on time." We called 2 more times to ask them about the status of a box, and they weren't able to give us an answer. TERRIBLE service. Not only do they "misplace your stuff," they also have dishonest employees and the worst customer service. 1 year later and I never got my stuff back.
