Low Cost Moving

My daughter had to relocate to TX for a job, so I stayed behind to pack her things and find a reliable shipping company. I thought I did my homework by checking out the reviews but I learned the hard way, you have to dig deeper than the reviews. First they said they had an A+ Rating with the BBB, come to find out that was a lie. Unfortunately I checked the BBB after I hired them and here is what I found out:
BBB Accreditation:
"Reliable Low Cost Moving, Inc. is not BBB Accredited."
"Alternate Business Names: Low Cost Moving"
Additional Web Addresses

Not only did they not have a BBB rating, they had 22 complaints filed against them.
The nightmare started when they picked up my daughter's things. "Reliable Low Cost Moving," is NOT RELIABLE!!! They immediately subcontracted with another company that we did not initially choose because they had a lot of complaints about items lost and stolen, but we ended up with them anyway. First they only listed 30 boxes when they actually picked up 33, along with other items that were not boxed but securely wrapped, like flat screen tvs, speakers, monitors, vacuum cleaner, paintings, etc. The subcontractors quoted a higher price then Daniel from Low Cost Moving, which we ended up paying.
I turned over my daughters items on June 10th. The set delivery date was July 5th. In between that time, we contacted Daniel at Low Cost Moving using the phone number I initially called him on, and the email address that we initially corresponded through, yet Daniel ignored my phone calls and emails. He refused to communicate. Finally after the delivery date passed and we received no word from anyone, I tried calling Daniel once again. I think because so much time had passed, he accidentally answered his phone. When I inquired as to where my daughter's things were and why it wasn't delivered, he replied that he would look into it and get back to me. Well of course, he never did. So a few days later my daughter called, not recognizing her number, he answered his phone. This time he gave her the number to the dispatcher. When my daughter called the dispatcher, they were able to pull up the order number, but had no idea where her stuff was, but promised to look into it and get back to her. A few days later when my daughter called the dispatcher back, she informed my daughter that her things were still in the warehouse in Maryland, where it was initially picked up.
Finally on July 21st (16 days after promised delivery and threats to report them to the police), we both get an email that her things would be delivery in the next day or two. So when the next subcontractor located in TX finally contacts her, he start quoting to her and additional $400 + dollars because of two flights of stairs she had initially paid for. He continues arguing back and forth with her, yelling and being quite rude at times. Anyway he informs her that her delivery will take place within the next 48 hours. On the evening of 7/23/14 approx. 7:30 pm, he call my daughter to inform her that he's 10 miles away. By this time, my daughter is getting ready for bed, has no cash in the house (because she had to pay an additional $650 on delivery), had to throw on some clothes and run to the cash machine to try and get this money to give them. When they finally arrived, they had this 75' truck, which the building management gave permission for them to unload, however the driver was not skilled in backing up the truck in such a tight space and wanted to charged my daughter an additional $445 to unload because he couldn't get close enough. Well, my daughter of course refused, so they worked it out where, most of her stuff was stored in her assigned garage space, and they only carried approx. 10 boxes and a few other items up the stairs, with her helping to carry items that she paid them to carry.
All in all, at the end of this nightmare experience, We give thanks to God for protecting her items along the way, through various subcontractors, Low Cost Moving having no idea where her things were for a period of time, lying that they had an A+ Rating with BBB, when they were not even Accredited with them at all, and the fact that they promised to be with you from beginning to end, when in fact, the only time we heard from them was to initially secure the job, after that, you are on your own. No communications whatsoever from "Low Cost Moving" as to the status of your belongings, even after numerous calls and emails. Totally frightening, outrageous and unacceptable.
I would NEVER RECOMMEND THEM TO ANYONE. Maybe they do fine with local moves, but long distance as in our case, YOU ARE TAKING YOUR CHANCES WITH YOU ITEMS GOING THROUGH THE HANDS OF VARIOUS SUBCONTRACTORS, NOT KNOWING WHERE YOUR ITEMS ARE AND NO COMMUNICATION FROM "LOW COST MOVING". THEY LIED ABOUT EVERYTHING FROM BEGINNING TO END!!! HIRE THEM AT YOUR OWN RISK!!!
