Horrible choice for a moving company

My wife's in the Air Force. We were moving from Texas to California because of a change of duty station and I was tasked with finding a moving company for our things since the Air Force couldn't accommodate our situation (we had things in Texas and in our home state. The AF wouldn't move things from two locations). I found Hurricane Movers thinking they were the best of the bunch I got quotes from.
We were told by Amanda Monroe, their sales agent, that the estimate given to us was just an estimate and that our final charge would be based on the actual weight of our move. We agreed to this. However, after the move, we were told by Zach, their "specialist," that we would have to pay the full estimated price because it was a "space reservation" and was the minimum chargeable weight. Our bill of lading stated that 1400 lbs was the minimum chargeable weight. However, we were told that the contract we signed stated the estimate was the minimum like they said.
The pickup driver was an hour late. Also, he had to repackage up two 20" TVs, a microwave, and a vanity mirror. This cost us $174. We were afraid that, if we didn't allow them to repack these items, that they would be smashed on purpose, so we bit the bullet. Then the driver pleaded for a tip and left us in an uncomfortable spot.
After it was delivered (almost three hours late from their scheduled time), we were told that the driver did not have the weigh tickets showing the actual weight which the Air Force requires for reimbursement. We had to call and request for them, but not before leaving about a dozen messages that went unanswered. A handle on an old antique dresser was broken off during transit. We decided to let that go since it was just a small thing.
They did not present our contract until the moving day, and not until all of our things were loaded up. Even if we declined their services because of their estimate-only pricing, we would not have had any time to get someone else since we were on a deadline to get to California.
The price estimated to us was $1397 but the cost if it was based on actual weight would have been $1097, a loss of $300.
Hurricane Movers is NOT the way to go.
Our order number was C632817.
