I have to say I had a horrible experience with Hilldrup's Greenville, SC location. I had chosen them based on a former employee who worked there and said they were top notch.
Basically, I was moving in the middle of the summer, so I booked them 6 weeks in advance - this included approximate size estimates and dates of move +/- 1 day. Shortly thereafter they came out and did a full inventory of my stuff and I even put them in contact with my future employer so they could direct bill. They had full details of my move (including exact addresses and desired dates for packing/pickup) 4 weeks in advance.
Then, 1 week before my move, they called me and said they weren't coming! In the middle of the summer. I have twin 2 year olds and a pregnant wife, so we didn't have any ability to move ourselves. They said "maybe you can try to call someone else" but obviously, most of those other movers laughed when I called asking if they could move me in a week.
My lease was already up on my apartment, so we had to move out - delaying the move wasn't an option. Every company was offering move dates 4 weeks in the future as the first available option.
I ended up being saved by Movin' On Movers in Raleigh, NC - but that is the subject of another post. I have nothing but kudos for those guys.
As for Hilldrup, maybe this is isolated to the Greenville, SC location but stranding your customers is not good business.
