I was approached over the phone by someone named Michael giving me a quote of what i described as items i would like to move from Dallas Texas to Arcadia California.
The initial quote of 30 large boxes, queen size bedroom furniture set with bed frame, headboard and side tables, a dining set with 5 chairs and a 3 seater couch are all included in that price of $1350. They said i don't fill the minimum and should be fine. i described I live in a high rise, there will be a loading dock, a freight elevator exclusively for their convenience.
(PLEASE MAKE SURE YOU PRINT THAT OUT OR HAVE A SCREEN SHOT BECAUSE THAT INITIAL QUOTE WILL DISAPPEAR AFTERWARDS ON THE LINK)
i paid with credit card and initial deposit of about $500 and a remaining percentage to be paid in cash or money order to movers and the balance then to the receiving end when it arrives.
5 days before the move they called and said i might need to pay for an extra $300 for shuttle if the large 16 wheelers cannot get into my street at my destination. I assured them i live on a huge street big enough for 16 wheelers but they insist i sign a new contract with a new quote with it. I called them several times requesting them to put into writing afterwards and the sales person would not take my call. Then someone actually yelled at me for calling them and tell me to call their "customer service" and STOP CALLING THEM. Customer service of course tells me they only handle problems after the move and i should handle contractual matters with the sales person. I will tell you they hang up on you and check caller ID so as to not pick up any callers they don't like to speak with.
When the movers came, they started charging me packing tapes, freight elevator charge, extra distance by feet (i live down a hallway inside a high rise) and said those are all extras when its not in front of a house. ( SO PLEASE HAVE THEM PUT ALL THOSE IN WRITING ON THE CONTRACT YOUR MOVE INCLUDES EVERYTHING) They also charge me card boards to protect my entertainment unit because it has glass on it with an extra total of $600!! i told them it was told to me they are all included but they point me to some fine print and of course no one answers in the office when i try to reach them the day of moving.
They broke the first thing they moved ( my entertainment unit), and then told me the cubic feet they quote from the sales person is under what i am consuming. I told them i sold my couch, my bedroom set and dining set now with less furniture and i am still over the cubic ft they quote me at the first place?! There is nothing i can do because i have to have the items out of my apartment. So i paid for all of them. Before they left they told me it could be a week to two before they would load the items on the huge truck depending on how fast things fill up.
2 weeks went by, no one calls. I was patient because i am in no rush for the items.
Finally a call came and told me the goods are on their way in the next few days. The movers are extremely courteous and hard working on this end. They are not the same people who moved them into storage to wait for the big shipment. His name is Sergio. He and his helper was helpful, and quick. He was very considerate making sure i have everything where i need it to be. I gave him a big tip before i send him off. However, one box is missing and so is my stereo speakers. They were not in a packing box because i kept it in the original box good enough for them to move without repacking. I hope this will eventually show up but i highly doubt it.
I would highly caution anyone who will want to use the company as movers. They don't answer your call, blocks your call after you sign a contract, put nothing in writing on the contract, pages of super fine print, many extra charges after the quote and man handled my belongings.
Moving is an extremely stressful situation and this added so much more on top of it. I got a quote from major companies like Mayflower, and they might be a tad higher ($300 after all my extra charges with Classic) but definitely stress free. They have someone to come give you a quote, no hidden charges and had everything in their writing.
Now that i have filed the complaints (which ask you for pictures of damages, your INITIAL PURCHASE RECEIPTS, and a ton of documents for the claim) and it has been 3 months. I have not heard anything back. I hope they will eventually re-imburse some part of the lost.
I would never use them again in my life and i would urge anyone to even try to find if this company actually exist with a physical address. I will definitely file with BBB and publish on other sites like Yelp and Local newspaper . I will give you readers any new development from here on
