Moving with Alliance was a complete nightmare. My initial quote was for $1600 and my final moving cost was over $6000. The sales man I spoke with quoted me for a "1 bedroom apartment" move from Seattle to Atlanta, which was listed in the top portion of the quote. When I looked at the fine print on the bottom he listed my apartment as a "studio" in weight estimate. A week prior to the pick up the estimate was doubled based on the estimated weight of items when we did an over the phone interview. I let the gentleman know that I lived in the city and that there were a few flights of stairs to get to my apartment. He said "that's not a problem" but did not tell me it was not a problem because they would triple my cost. The pickup movers were very nice but let me know the price would be over $6000 dollars based on the stairs, needing a shuttle and a carry distance. The lead mover said he would "cut me a deal" if I gave him $600 under the table because he knew the company did this to people just to rip them off, so he would try and save me a couple hundred bucks. I was fuming but felt trapped as I was moving cross country and no longer had a job or place to live, much less a backup plan for another moving company. The delivery was also delayed and the communication about exactly where my things were was poor to say the least. No one ever called me back or followed through on what they said they would do. I spoke with the man in charge of delivery voicing my frustration over the falsified initial quote, money "under the table" and he said I signed a contract so there was nothing he could do. When my things finally arrived in GA, there were crushed boxes and water damage to several pieces of furniture (mildew on several and 2 pieces had been in enough water to peel off the finish and create gapping between the boards. These were solid wood pieces of furniture, not veneers). My mattress was also sliced on two corners where they cut the protective wrapping off and removed approx 4 inch squares of fabric. When the delivery man saw me taking pictures of my things he asked "Is there a problem?" After reading some other reviews, I am grateful to have even received my furniture. The overall cost of the move was not what made this experience so bad in my opinion; it is the deceptive practices they used to get my business and keep it, the asking for money under the table, the poor communication, and finally the state of my furniture when I did receive it.
