These guys were contracted for the final leg of moving a Yamaha U1 upright piano to my 3rd floor apartment. They demanded $850 for an extra 300 ft. in long haul fees, which was great exaggerated. The rate specified on the contract was $2 per 100 lb for every extra 50 ft. moving. A Yamaha U1 is no more than 600 lbs. So the long haul fee should have been $72 (6x weight, 6x distance, $2).
In addition to lying about the long haul fee, they lied about the dimensions of the piano (claiming is was 6 ft. long and 2000 lbs at first, when it is actually 5 ft. long and 500 lbs).
After 1.5 hours arguing, I agreed to let them put the piano on the curb in exchange for the balance (they were essentially holding my piano hostage). Even so, when I asked them to unload the piano before giving them the balance, they cursed at me, closed the truck doors and threatened to drive away. Eventually, they unloaded the piano to the curbside.
They are nothing more than unprofessional, discourteous scam artists.
