We had many household items which were never delivered at the end of our move. Some of these items were irreplaceable, such as wedding photo albums of my parents, pictures from adopting our child in Romania &c.
What was particularly offensive was their denial of any responsibility for the missing items and the implication that we "simply must have lost them".
One thing was particularly special and that was our Lenox Versailles china. We were missing all of our dinner plates and a few other select pieces. My wife was excited when she recently found some on sale on ebay from a seller in San Jose.
They wanted $34 a piece (!) but we had to pull the trigger as this might be our only opportunity to replace all 12 of them.
We were astonished to discover that they were our exact plates, still packed in the original paper and coverings that we wrapped them in!
Thanks to the vigilance of my wife, we have partially restored our collection.
Clearly, these plates (among other things) were pilfered from the Tri Valley Bekins warehouse in Livermore, CA. The driver who delivered our (most of) belongings to Texas was sharp enough to take a picture of the sorry pile that our goods were thrown into. There is no doubt that everything that did not arrive, was removed from the Livermore warehouse and sold on the internet. Most of the items were keepsakes from a box in the living room and one from the master bedroom. It is a travesty that something like this is taking place, but their unwillingness to accept responsibility makes it even worse.
We were even cheated out of $395 on the piano repairs because Laura (claims adjuster at corporate) doesn't understand basic accounting.
I'd personally like to call out Kelli Maness at the Livermore location for her complete and total lack of professionalism and courtesy. It would not surprise me if she is the ringleader.
DO NOT DO BUSINESS WITH THESE CROOKS!! Bekins or Wheaton. RUN AWAY!!
