The packing crew arrived on time and they were curtious, but when the truck showed up the following day I was shocked at the poor condition of their moving trailer. I was expecting a semi truck with a large trailer and instead I got a regular pickup truck and what looked like an old rusted out trailer. The moving guys did not box my mattresses and they tryed to use the mattresses to hold up my couch, which fell twice and fortunaly didn't damage the couch. In order to get all my things in the trailer, the guys had to stack some of my things. They stacked some of my exersice equipment on my treadmill, and I was assured that they had done everything they could to protect my treadmill. When my things arrived in TN, I had several broken or damaged items. Some things were petty, but I shouldn't have to deal with that. My white garbage can had huge rust scraped area (not sure where the rust came from unless it was the trailer), the whole bottem had been ripped out of my antique chair, several crystal dolphin pieces I had were damaged (they where packed together with nothing in between them to protect them from each other) and both of my mattresses were WET! They offered to send one of their men to Walmart to get something to help dry it out and keep the odor down, but one of the matresses had to be steam cleaned because of my warrenty. My treadmill was damaged, not an expensive fix ($8.00 + shipping) but irritating all the same. The salesperson/owner daughter offered to arrange for payment of the mattresses and the treadmill, but I thought it would much easier to pay each company myself and Reed's Moving could reimburse me. That has been 5 months ago, and I still haven't seen the money. THEN I look at my bank account information and I see that they charged us an extra $155. So I called and they refused to believe the amount I was charged, claiming that it must be my bank adding an extra charge. Eventually they sent us a receipt for the amount that was charged (this was a company move so the receipt had to be the same as the charge otherwise it was costing us the difference). I tried calling and leaving messages and no one would return my calls so I filed a comlaint with the BBB and it took over 2 months for David Reed to respond to the complaint. He's offered to pay for the mattresses but he now claims that the moving men told me that stacking anything on the treadmill would damage it and I said to just go ahead and do it anyway, so he won't pay the $8.00 + shipping. Due to my husbands job, we move often and all moving companies stack the furniture and household items, and my contract clearly states that the price includes "insurance of replacement or repair of any damage caused by mover." Beware of this mover, they don't know what they are doing they are not professionals. Reed's Moving and Storage have some questionable practices.
