On 7/8 my daughter entered into an agreement with Priority 1 Moving and Storage to move her belongings from one state to another. She was quoted & agreed upon a price. We changed the pickup date from 7/30 to 7/23 to insure that the movers would arrive by 8/1. We were assured with each conversation that they may not be there on the 1st but would be there no later than the 2nd. I reiterated several times that I would be flying to the final destination to help my daughter. I explained this to Vicki & the movers. The movers came & the price went up 500.00. I reluctantly agreed to the upcharge. Chris-mover told me that it was possible that it would not arrive by the 1st/2nd but would by the end of wk. I advised that maybe we would postpone the flight, but Chris advised that was not a good idea. Each day that I called (3) I was given different dates (when someone would answer the phone); by end of week I was told from 1-10- bus days, 21 bus days then up to 45 business days. The contract states under 1000 miles - delivery up to 10 business days. The movers called on 8/12 to say they would be there on 8/13 or 8/14. On 8/13 they called and said that they would be there 8/14 or 8/15. On 8/15 they called and said they were at the apartment complex. My daughter was still at work. When she got there, the movers told her that it would be an additional 100.00 for every 75 feet that they must carry her items because they would not drive into the apartment complex. I and my daughter advised that 18 wheelers come into the complex frequently. The apartment complex manager spoke with the movers, drove them thru the complex and they still refuse to enter. We had to pay the money. Went and got a money order but they refused to take it because it was not a postal money order. But we paid them with the same type of money order when we made the deposit. They would not accept a money order from the bank. Cash or postal money order and the post office is closed.
During the time of pickup and time of delivery, I had to purchase items for my daughter to live. Clothes, personal items, toiletries, kitchen items. Etc.
To summarize, we were quoted $975.00. On the day of pickup, the price went up to $1475.00. Once they arrived the price went up to $1875.00. They picked up the items on 7/23. They were not delivered until 8/15 at 11:00 pm. They refused to accept a money order from the bank. They refused to come into the complex although the management company came, showed them the route and assured them that other 18 wheelers including Mayflower (that was the name on the truck) come into the complex on a regular basis. The move consisted of whatever a college student accumulates after 4 years of school. So use this company, Priority 1 Moving and Storage at your own risk.
