They delivered our stuff 10 days ago and the ONE box they packed went missing. (The quote included "free" dish packing; that's the only reason I let them pack our stuff.) They will not return our calls regarading whether htere is any hope in tracking these items, or how to process the insurance claim. So to me, they just plain STOLE it. I have not heard from them at all.
On both ends, The driver who showed up initially refused to honor the terms of THEIR OWN CONTRACT. For example, The sales rep had written in "no flight charges." but the driver tried to say that that didn't matter, they always charge for flights. Well, I had three pieces of written documentation to the effect that there would be no flight charges, so finally after about an hour of multiple cell phone calls the driver finally convinced the "dispatcher" to give up.
At delivery the driver CLAIMED he had arranged for a crew to help him unload, but they did not show up. So once again had to call and try to get in touch with "dispatch." Very difficult. Even when they said they would call back, they never did. Much resistance to their sending a crew, even though one person cannot unload a four-bedroom load, especially with a piano! The driver started unloading at 2 pm. He unloaded 90 percenet of our stuff alone (unsafe, unhealthy). Then, at 10 pm these WHO KNOWS WHO THEY WERE XXXvery suspicious the kind of people lyou dono't want hanging inside your house XXXwhich they DID XXXno identification, no nothing XXXthese people showed up for 20 minutes to help him muscle our piano and a few larger pieces of furniture into the house. They then went behind the truck and he paid them off and they left. I mean, surely this is illegal.
The contract SUPPOSEDLY iincludes reassembling all the furniture moved XXXta bles, beds etc. But of course, at 10 pm, with this guy having worked since 7 am (he had a delivery before ours) he was too exhausted and we wanted him to go. So we were left reassembling most of our furniture. So that part of the contract was not fulfilled.
What else?
Well, the salesperson assured me he would be available 24/7 (I have it in writing) to help us through the moving process, and the dispatcher said the same thing XXXbut once they had us on the contract, they NEVER returned our calls (and I called them as rarely as possible, believe me) and almost never our emails. So that was a fail as well.
The contract said, "prices and services are negotiable, see your sales representative." So, in addition to the no flight charges, I also worked out a few other special conditions: I arranged to pay with a credit card instead of cash, to pay 50/50 instead of 75/25 and a few other details. WELL, on the pickup date, the DRIVER who showed up initially REFUSED TO HONOR these special arrangements. And yes, even though the sales rep had sworn up and down that there would be no additional charges, the driver first thing he did was try to charge me for 20 roles of tape at $5 a role, and no, we couldn't supply our own tape. He also tried to charge $100 for piano packing materials, even though we had already signed up for hte $150 piano fee. Understand, I had spent quite a lot of time on the phone before booking trying to get Eric, the sales rep, and Nicole, the dispatcher, to tell me what hte charges would be. There were no suprises on my end XXXI feel they deliberately withheld information in order to produce a lower quote and get the deal.
Another thing Eric the sales rep promised but then Nicole the dispatcher reneged on was that (I have it in writing) we could pay our final amount due AFTER the boxes were unloaded and furniture reassembled. This is the one thing I failed to get written on the contract, although we talked about it and I have it in an email. AFTER my stuff was loaded on the truck, THEN Nicole said, no, you have to pay before the stuff is unloaded. Again, I feel this was sneaky and dishonest, but I did give in on this since I somehow overlooked getting that written up in the contract.
But as the for miscellaneous charges and paying with credit card (again! The dispatcher and driver acted like it wasn't even written right htere on the contract! They just ignored their own contract.) Fortunately I had gone to great lengths to get things written down, so I just kept pointing to the contract and after XXXi kid you not 1.5 hours and several phone calls to several people XXXthey FINALLY backed down. But it was ridiculous that I had to do that. The actual people who pack and process your move don't seem to feel bound by whatever you work out with the sale rep. That kind of grief is the last thing you need when you are in the middle of a move.
Whatever financial savings they promise is just not worth the worry and aggravation XXXand you cannot be sure you will even save that money, given all their sneaky ways. STAY AWAY FROM THEM.
