I would like to share my short experience with whom it may concern.
After submitting my personal information online and asking for a moving estimate I was contacted by several moving companies. One of the moving companies was classic van line. Lisa, their customer representative had contacted me via email asking for an inventory list. I responded with a request for an in-home survey and here is how it went from there:
Myself: I would like for someone to come over and asses my apartment.
I will be available on Sunday between 12-02 PM
Lisa: Unfortunately we only do in-home estimates on homes 3 bedroom and above. But the quot I gave you is a BINDING quot. Meaning you will have no surprise fees. The items you listed are the items your paying for relocation. If you want to add anything on to your inventory list just let me know and we can update you estimate.
(just a small moving snapple fact, the plus of having an in home estimate is that you get a binding quot (no surprise fees) the minus when you get an in home estimate, the in home estimator quotes you 15-20% higher. The quotes we give here at Classic Vanline are binding as well! :)
Look forward to speaking with you.
Myself: I would feel a lot more comfortable if someone came out here.
The reason for that is because I've read so many horror stories online and I don't want my price to exceed.
Lisa: Unfortunately we only send out our in home estimator on +4 bedrooms. I work in the moving business for about 2 years now so I've heard some not so exciting situations. Therefor I definitely understand your reason for caution. Classic Vanline provides BINDING quotes. So the price for your move is the final price (no additional surprises).
This act made me very suspicious so I have researched gov. websites for more information and I found out that a moving company MUST send an estimator with in 50 miles from their office.
The problem was that they have NO office in Colorado!!! They operate from Mini U storage off I 70 and 45th Avenue.
This was the response I got from them:
Lisa: You know what you sound like? pure ignorance. I did not avoid your inhome estimate im a sales rep doing my job. Seems like you have alot of time on your hands... use that time to get the facts. We are one of Colorados top moving companies. Our clients are happy our reviews are great and our pricing is fair. You dont want to do business with us? Then dont. Its you who is missing out not me. Consider your file deleted and your business not wanted.
Myself: Thank you for showing your true colors!
I think that in this case the pure ignorance is absolutely yours.
After doing some research I found out that your company is not based in Colorado or any where near but, in Hollywood Florida!
Your company operates with rented trucks and public storage units so how is that even considered a moving company.
I am also positive that even you are not located in Colorado.
The "a lot of time on my hands" is to make sure that I do business with a real business and not a Joe blow with a rented truck!
So ignorance is the wrong word to choose!
This company is based in Florida and operate in Colorado with a rented truck from public storage units!
I encourage who ever reads this to research before you give your business to a company!
