My move was from Kansas City to Fort Lauderdale...a long haul. During any move, but especially a move of that distance, I needed a company that had the resources to do a move of that distance, without the price that left me broke. I called around to the "big name" movers and the smaller mover alike. The quotes that I was receiving across the board were very big numbers. It was beginning to look like I was going to have to rent a truck myself and do the move on my own. Then, a friend led me to buildmymove, who I decided to call.
I went through my move with the sales person expecting the same response that I received from everyone else. The difference was that they quoted me at half the price of everyone else that I had talked to. I was extremely skeptical when I found out how much lower buildmymove's prices were compared to everyone else...so I asked a million questions to see where they were going to get me. I made sure that they over estimated the amount of furniture/boxes that I had so that there weren't any surprises along the way.
When it was all said and done, the movers showed up on time. What surprised me was how careful they were...I've never seen so much padding and tape...the padded everything; dart boards, mini fridge, etc. They loaded me up in about four hours and came in under the amount of estimated linear feet. During the trip the truck driver called me a couple of times a day to give me a status update. That made me feel really good, because I was extremely worried about my stuff arriving on time. My stuff arrive ahead of schedule in Florida, and everything was unloaded, unwrapped and put back together in a very professional manor. The movers that I had in Florida were ex-army guys...needless to say very hard workers, and trustworthy.
Overall I would highly recommend buildmymove as they did everything that they said they were going to do, and they did it for about half the price of everyone else. They were very good with following up and making sure that my moving needs were met.
