After some research, we elected to use Bayflower moving and United Vanlines for our move to FL and TN. I include United as a comparator that was flawless and professional. Granted their part of the move was less volume (40% of total). Their in-home estimate was correct to the penny. Bayflower used this in-home estimate as they did not feel it was needed to make visit. During the actual move, the driver and crew arrived late and were totally unprepared with supplies to provide full pack service. We were charged over $1800 as overcharges by the driver. No changes were made to the original listing. As they did not come prepared, the item listing was higher as they did not even pack many items that were listed on our original estimate. Terrible service was provided by the driver who was more interested in item count rather than overseeing the proper packing and safety of our personal items. We were told that they were a family owned company, but we never saw an employee of Bayflower, just contractors at both pick-up and packing as well as delivery and unpacking. This had a major impact on the unacceptable moving experience with this company. During delivery by a contract driver, we were again surprised to see that all our belongings were in a different truck than the one that pickedup our materials. This meant that our boxes and belongings were loaded and unloaded at least one or more times. Many of the boxes were delivered upside down and heavily damaged. We had numerous items that were broken and damaged due to the poor packaging and handling. We are now in the process of submitting claims to Baker Insurance, who have been helpful in addressing our claim of more than $3000 in damages. In addition, we are seeking claim for damages that occurred during the move to our hardwood floors due to the movers not using normal protection of the floors. In the end, my main mistake was apparently saving a few dollars based on assurances by their Customer Service Rep that Bayflower would do a great job. I would never recommend nor use this company again.
