My wife and I were very excited about our move to Chicago, but we were not excited about packing up our house and doing any moving ourselves. Usually we would just rent a truck and do the move with family members but for a far move like this we thought it better to get professionals involved. At the start of our research, we were very put off by how most companies were more interested in taking a deposit from us than telling us how things worked and explaining the costs associated with the move. Every company was very abrupt with us and did not seem detail oriented. We read about Alpine Moving and Storage here and on a few other sites, so we thought we would give them a call and see how they operated. Our first conversation was with Courtney, who seemed to have extensive knowledge about everything involved with the move. There was not one thing we asked her about that we did not get a definite answer, and she even gave us information about things we didn't think to ask about (like insurance options) so that we were well informed about all aspects of the move. We chose Alpine Moving and Storage even though they were not the cheapest company because they really seemed to care about the customer's happiness and were very honest about everything.
Courtney instructed us to stay in touch with her about our move so that we could make any adjustments to the cost before move day. We must have called her 25 times before the move, and she was always happy to help us. We tinkered with the inventory a few times while deciding what to take with us, the cost was revised each time and a new estimate sent to us for our review. I did most of the reviewing of paperwork since my wife hates to deal with numbers, and I was truly impressed at the level of detail in the estimate and Courtney's attention to detail. Never once did I have to call back and say "oh you left this off the list" or "why is this policy not stated in writing??". Every single thing that was discussed on the phone was put in writing so that we knew that everything would be honored during the move.
I called the day before pickup with a last minute question, Courtney was out of the office but her colleague Frank was more than able to help me with my little questions. It was impressive that everyone was on the same page and obviously all well trained. And all so helpful too! The actual service did not disappoint once the move started either. The movers were all very nice and polite men, they worked swiftly and did not cut any corners. We were blown away at how quickly they packed up our things and got everything into the truck. We were even more impressed with the transit time, we knew the full extent of the delivery window but we got it midway and with a good amount of notice too. Delivery crew worked very hard as well, they helped us get all the furniture set up in the house and did all of the reassembly without us even asking. We felt like they really cared about us being happy and making sure that they did everything correctly. We felt well taken care of and we have already recommended Alpine Moving and Storage to several of our friends who need to move (since Alpine Moving and Storage does moving all across the US). We would like to thank Courtney, Frank, and especially our foreman Julian for working so hard to make our move a success!
