I contacted City Van Lines via the internet and received a quote of $1,289 to move me from East Greenwich, RI to Vero Beach, FL. Unbeknownst to me, they in turn contacted a company by the name of All Inclusive Moving and Storage, Inc. to actually do the move. They arrived on 10/29 to move me. Once my belongs were on the moving truck, I was informed that the price of the move was $2850.
At this point, I have given up my apartment and have to be out by the next day. There is no time for me to contact another mover. I was being held hostage by these people. They agreed to lower the price to $2150, which was still more than $860 more than the original quote.
I was told the furniture would be delivered to the new addres in seven to ten days. Furniture took 15 days to arrive. My desk arrived damaged. I submitted a claim on 11/18/08 to their insurance company. Over 164 days after the claim was submitted I have yet to receive any communication from them regarding this claim. I have contacted them a dozen times and still have not had the courtesy of one single return call.
I do plan to contact the NJ Attorney General's Office regarding both the movers and the insurance company. MY RECOMMENDATION IS TO STAY AS FAR AWAY FROM THESE PEOPLE AS POSSIBLE.
