1.The company was adamant that the shipment was 3100lbs which was 100lbs overweight. I insisted that it was not even close to 3000lbs. They lied and said they had weighed the shipment. I argued with them to no avail. I demanded a reweigh. The actual weight of the shipment was 1980lbs. This is attempted fraud in my book.
2.The truck hit an overpass in Chicago and tore the roof on the truck, rain poured in on my furniture. I submitted a claim to Anthem, they offered my $258.00 or .60 a pound for 430lbs. How they came up with that weight I have no idea. Now I am stuck with $4-$5000 in damages for what was supposed to be a $2000.00 move.
3. A Topps won't give me the name of the insurance company for the truck until I file a police report which will be my next step. I called the company twice and was hung up on both times.
4. They also don't tell you that they will charge you for every item that they place in a box - mirror, nightstand, lamp, pictures. Pay attention to the charges. They charged me an additional $409 for the packing charges although the broker from United States Van Lines Howard Melnick told me it was included1.The company was adamant that the shipment was 3100lbs which was 100lbs overweight.
