I guess it's a common thing this time of the year for a moving company not to show up on scheduled days because that is what happened to us last week. We read hundreds of reviews and many of them were identical to our situation. We booked with a broker out of Florida for a very cheap price and after having the industry explained to us by Eric Wittenborg of America's Moving Services we now understand basically how it works. We had a ton of quotes after going online and filled out a form and were contacted by dozens of companies with quotes ranging from $800 to $10,000 from a local outfit. We chose one of the lowest from a sleazy company based out of Florida which we will not name yet becuase they still have our $700 deposit and we want it back. They quoted us for 9000 lbs. and quoted us a price of $2,250 for our move. We took the bait and sent them our deposit via wire transfer (no idea what we were thinking!!!!) but we did it anyway because they sounded good. Cut to the chase, NEVER called us, NEVER returned our calls, NEVER responded to emails, dozens of phone calls, emails, not 1 returned. Moving day came and went by and 5 days after our original move date with people waiting to move into the house that we had sold them and we couldn't even rent a damn u-haul because of the time of year and our location isn't really ideal for moving companies. Finally, we found this website and called a few companies on here and told them our situation and one told us that they needed at least 3 weeks notice and a few never returned our calls either, however, America's Moving Services patched me through to Eric who whether we booked with them or not, I will say he was the most knowledgable moving person we had spoken with. When he gave us the price we were in shock....$5400 to move us!!!! He then went on to explain the industry as a whole and why we were stuck in Wyoming waiting on a company that would never show up. After much hesitation due to the price, we decided to go with our instinct and booked our move with Eric and was told he could have us picked up within 24-48 hours of them recieving our signed documents. We had to rush 20 miles to the nearest fax machine and got it done. Guess what? 2 days later they showed up and got us done, no b.s no excuses, nothing but pure honest work. The price did go up by $300 for some packing including a flat panel t.v, mattresses, 3 glass tabletops but nothing else. Delivery was yesterday and again, great move in nothing negative to report. As for the "other" moving company, we don't expect to ever hear from them or recieve our money back from them but we will post their information if we don't recieve it within another few weeks. America's Moving Services was not only a lifesaver, but they are in our opinion a very well run company.
