| Review: | First, thanks to everyone who has written reviews for this company. I would like to add my own now. Researching a moving company was one of the hardest and most stressful things I have ever done, literally. I heard and read dozens of horrible stories and reviews about companies and many of them were companies I recieved quotes from and was even considering until I read about them. I would consider myself an educated consumer but you would not believe how naive I was and I am sure many people are when it comes to moving. I finally started digging up "dirt" on moving companies when so many of their quotes were all over the place pricewise and thought to myself, I should really look into this. The company I am employed with paid for my entire relocation including my vehicle, packing boxes and the actual loading and unloading, in other words every aspect of my move was paid for to a certain extent, I just had to do the easy part, finding the movers which actually turned out to be the hardest part. My allowance was $4,500.00 for everything and everything else would have to be paid out of pocket. I am single and was moving out of a two bedroom condo with 1 fully furnished bedroom, a living room, dining room and the second bedroom was used as an office and all of my items had to be packed, kitchen, bathrooms, clothes etc.. I had two local companies come out to my condo to price the move, these two companies were very reputable and both held A ratings with the Better Business Bureau and also came highly recommended from people that I know that had used them for their moves. Problem, their prices both well exceeded my expenses to be paid by my company by several thousand dollars. I was quoted by one of the moving estimators $4,800.00 for just the packing and moving and that was before my vehicle cost of moving and that would be another $1,200-$1,500 which would bring the cost to roughly $6,000 give or take and then once you add the insurance, potential storage fees and what moving companies call shuttle fees I would be close to or a little over $7,500.00 which would be way over my budget considering I just didn't have an extra $3,000 plus dollars hanging around. I searched and searched and finally found a few companies which were in my price range and one that was astoundingly low at $3,000.00 for everything quoted by the in home estimators and I soon found out that their BBB rating was an F and that they had changed their names three times over the last 4 years due to low quotes and then hitting the customer up for three to four times the initial quoted price. America's Moving Services wound up at $3,400.00 for the move, $750.00 for the packing and $1,300.00 for the auto transport and they quoted me an additional $500.00 for the storage if needed and $400.00 for the shuttle fee also if neccessary. I could handle that and so I went with their quote and know that I made the right choice. Not only did I speak directly with the owner of the company on several occassions which nowadays is not the norm, once I was picked up and my items were weighted, I was told that I owed LESS, yes $240.00 less than the quote. All the wonderful things I have read about them is true, this website was one of many that I read about them on and I usually am not a review writer nor have I ever written a review about another product or service but when Eric the owner asked me to post my experience I decided that it was better late than never. It has been two months since I moved in and recieved my furniture and I am happy as anything that not only is my job going great, but my furniture looks as new as it did when they picked it up in Powder Springs. |
