Good overall move

I didn't check moverreviews.com before choosing a moving company - if I had I would have been too scared to hire ANYBODY ! But move we did - from to Texas - Montana with way too much stuff ! This was our first experience with professional movers and I have to agree with the other reviewers - there's no easy way around it ! I interviewed 3 companies and took the middle bid - yourmovingdays agent was very professional in estimating the moving costs - though I did question the representative when he estimated the hydrolic car lift at 500 pounds. No problem, he said, I estimate heavy things all the time. He was actually closer than we thought, the car lift was 785 lbs. My husband thought we could save money by doing the packing ourselves; I am not so sure anymore. We spent a small fortune buying packing boxes and supplies at uhaul. And then we read that owner-packed items are not covered in the extra insurance we bought ! But since I have too much stuff anyways maybe a few broken pieces aren't all bad ! The driver, Mickey, showed up with his crew about 8 am and worked until after 11 pm ! They worked so hard all day I felt almost guilty for not helping load the truck ! And to his credit, I heard him call the estimator and thank him for estimating the weight of the lift, and talking with his crew about it, but they never complained to us at all. Our biggest complaint is that there didn't seem to be much regard for fragile stickers and " this way up " arrows - they just packed that truck tight as a drum. They did manage to break one rocker off of a valuable antique chair which was a real shame. I had it repaired but it will never be as good but it wasn't ruined. The driver showed up exactly when he said he would in Montana with a new crew of hard workers. I tried to check off all the numbers from the boxes but that is nearly impossible ! The guys worked really hard and they did a very good job of putting things back together even thogh it was the Texas crew who disassembled them ! Took me a few days of hunting for some parts to the sewing machine but I mentally back-tracked which room it was originally in and check the trunks from there. Eureka, I found them ! They even put my bed together even though it had been boxed before the move. They only charged me what the " not to exceed " estimate was and even crated a couple of table tops that were not on the estimate. I would highly recommend this company to anyone searching fro a good, solid moving company as we had a very pleasant experience.
