| Subject: | America's Moving Services....Sleazy at best! |
| Review: | This is a response I posted with the BBB about America's Moving Services......be aware.
In the response you will note the only thing America's Moving Services seems to address is the camcorder. Not the sleazy level of service, not the unreturned phone calls, and definitely not the broken, and missing items! Contrary to America's Moving Service statement of "Again, another case of somebody wanting something for free".......I PAID for the deposit and I paid for the delivery just like they asked. I held up my end of the agreement......they got paid. However, it is America's Moving Services that did not fulfill IT'S obligation to provide me with a reputable mover, whether directly or indirectly, Velvet Relocation was represented as being representative of America's Moving Services. I spoke with Eric whom said he was the owner, and my wife spoke with Howard whom also stated he was the owner. Neither "owner" has done anything to rectify this situation. I have already consulted legal counsel on this matter and will pursue that as a viable option if need be. Clearly, America's Moving Services are use to a client base that will accept their inferior services and laundry list of excuses with a smile. Unfortunately for them, I nor my wife are those people.
This industry as a whole has a horrid reputation and companies like America's Moving Services just continue to add to the negative stigma.
Indeed my items were moved from my home in Georgia to my home in new Hampshire, they definitely got it from point A to point B so congratulations to America's Moving Services and their contractor Velvet Relocation for that tremendous achievement that is supposed to be their area of expertise. The problem lies therein in the fact that many items were damaged, and some have yet to arrive, and most definitely my camcorder WAS stolen right off of my kitchen counter when one of the movers came back in to "wash his hands" and left a mess, and left with the item.
America's Moving Services should step up to the plate and accept responsibility here, I am not asking for the move to be "free", however I am asking America's Moving Services to step up to do the right thing. |

| Response: | I would like to first say that in the month of May we performed over 200 moves and if I was to say we have never had a valid complaint I would be lying as we tell all of our clients to post a review be it positive or negative. In response to this particular complaint I can state the facts. We picked up the client in their desired timeframe and upon weighing the truck the client was slightly over the estimated weight and when we contacted them to tell them their c.o.d they claimed they were "guaranteed" their price per lb. would be .20 per lb. which I can tell you that from day 1 we have NEVER rerated a client at .20 per lb. So at that point I knew there was going to be issues. We settled the rerate at .35 per lb. as opposed to the .50 per lb. it should have been. Next issue, the driver was en route and ready to deliver the clients goods within 2 days (which 95% of clients dream of) and the client then advised he would not be ready that soon. Most moving companies charge what is called S.I.T or overnight fees if the truck is ready to deliver and the client is not available due to the fact that the truck cannot utilize the space with the clients belongings on it. We never even spoke about charging the client because I knew that would be another issue. The driver delivered, paid and we were on to the next move. Several days later I recieved a call from the clients wife who stated as follows "my father is the chief of police and we have video surveillance cameras all over our house and I JUST got finished watching a tape of your driver stealing our digital camcorder off of our kitchen counter" she then stated if the driver either pays us for a new one or gives back the stolen one I will not go to the police and press charges to which I replied, this is serious and if this is true I do not want that driver working for us which is true. Please keep in mind that this driver has done 30 or 40 moves for me and other than the occasional running an hour late I have never had someone claim he stole from them but I had to do my due dilligence and called him up and asked him whether or not he did what was said, I do not take sides nor do I or have I ever said that it is impossible or called the client a liar. He said this is his lielihood and how he puts food on the table for his family adn ya know what, I believe him. I contacted the client back right after I got off the phone with the driver and politely asked her " is there any way possible you can either email me a copy of the video or burn a copy and mail it to me which I think is fair. I told her the minute I saw that video not only would I buy her a brand new camcorder or give her the money IMMEDIATELY but I would also go to court on her behalf to prosecute the driver for the crime. All of a sudden the client had to try to find the video and figure out how to find it on her computer which to me sounds quite odd I mean if you JUST got through watching it how could you not know where it is? She told me when she figured it out she would call me back. Next thing I know I am getting Better Business Bureau comlaints from them and this disgusting review. No phone calls or anything. I mean if I had such incriminating evidence that would be the key to any complaint. |
