As any good consumer I checked out 4 moving companies to handle my move. Found that Moving and Storage, FL offered the middle of the road prices so went with them. BIG MISTAKE! They advertise themselves as a moving company. They are NOT. They are brokers. They take your info and sell the move to another company. This was never mentioned by Seth, their rep during any conversation. After reading review after review and by the guarantees given to me by Seth I decided to go with it. I asked and sent email to ensure there would be no hidden fees or charges. He assured me that the deposit was all I needed to make this happen. Should have known better. Next thing I know there is an increase of my deposit amount. No problem I expect changes with changes of items.
Next call I get is from the contracted moving company. 3 days before the move they inform me they want to charge me another $1000 before the move takes place! Said it was in the contract I signed. No mention by Seth on this SMALL item. Told them that he said nothing of this. They said wasn’t their problem.
Called Seth back and he quickly shuffled me off to their customer service. Of course they tell me that it is in the contract. Informed them that I asked and they said sorry but they would talk to Seths manager! Right and I hit the lottery. I said ok, give me my deposit back and I will go elsewhere. They said since it was inside a 7 day window I lose my deposit. What a scam! The company contracted for the move waits til the last minute to call you so you are inside the 7 day window. Wonder if they share the $1000? Believe it or not all of this is LEGAL and written down by the federal government! So now had to suck up the $1000 and get another co to do my move. Can't believe I was taken and having a hard time trusting any of them!
